Volunteers Needed

Downingtown Area Senior Center has a need for volunteers to assist in the following ways:

Instructional Volunteers:  We are currently looking for volunteers to offer instruction in the following special interest areas: wine appreciation, art appreciation, computers (basic instruction: internet, email, Microsoft Office, etc.), photography, master choir.  Instructors will be responsible for planning and implementing a full curriculum for a 12 week program.  Ideal candidates will be available for continuing partnership beyond 12 weeks.

Fund-raising Volunteers:  Volunteers are needed to assist board and staff members with the fund-raising needs of the Senior Center by forming/joining a "Friends of the Senior Center" Committee.  This committee will assist with our annual dinner dance & silent auction as well as our beef & beer fundraisers.  Committee members may also assist with other special events and are encouraged to implement, plan and carry out their own fund-raising activities.

Community Service Volunteers:  Students needing to complete community service hours as a part of their graduation requirements are welcome to assist the Center in several ways.  Students should contact the Center to learn what opportunities are available to them.

The Center also has limited opportunities for court appointed community service volunteers.  Individuals required to complete community service hours as a part of probation/parole should contact the Center to learn what opportunities area available to them.  Court appointed community service volunteers are required to disclose the offense committed and may be denied based on the severity of the offense.

**Special Note - students inquiring about community service hours as a requirement of graduation should contact the Center.  Parents are discouraged from making inquiries on behalf of their child.

How to get involved:  If you feel that you can assist the Center by becoming a member of our committed volunteer force please contact our Executive Director, Bill Pierce by calling 610-269-3939,  or by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
